CP DECLARES WAR ON TRAFFIC OFFENDERS, DEPLOYS TASKFORCE TEAM

Adamawa State Commissioner of Police, Sikiru Kayode Akande, has declared war on traffic offenders who drive and ride against traffic rules in and around the state. It is against this backdrop that the CP, Akande, has deployed Taskforce Team with a charge to go after the violators of the rules for safety of the innocent lives. According to the command, the team is to arrest and prosecute offenders, vowing that the Command will not allow anyone to drive or ride dangerously with a vehicle, tricycle and motorcycle unchallenged.  CP Akande, in a statement by the spokesman of the Command, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, and made available to NEWS PLATFORM on Thursday, explained that the taskforce is to checkmate outrigtht violation of rules. The Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command in a joint operation with Hunters have killed 3 suspected kidnappers and rescued a victim in Hong Local Government Area. The team killed the suspects during gun duel in Husa mountains, Hong LGA and recovered one AK-47 rifle, Army camouflage uniform, chains, pardlocks and charms.   A statement by the PPRO of the command, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, and made available NEWS PLATFORM, added that the suspects were killed on the 11th May, 2022, in Husa Mountains connecting part of Kala'a, Mijili and Mutuku Villages in  Hong LGA. MAN ACCUSED OF KIDNAPPING, DEMANDING N10MILLION RANSOM DISCHARGED

A 32 year old man, Mohammed Ibrahim and one Baba-Iyali(now at large) accused of conspiracy to commit kidnapping and criminal intimidation has been discharged and acquitted. Hon. Justice Kyanson Lawanson, of the Adamawa State High Court of Justice discharged the defendant for lack of evidence to link him with the alleged offences. He declared that there are gaps in the manner the case was investigated by the police and the totality of the evidence presented before the Court by the Prosecution. According to him, the Court found out that the extra-judicial confessional statement of the Defendant was not recorded in the presence of a Lawyer as provided by law. The Investigative Police Officer, Inspector Sarma Shuaibu, told the Court during cross-examination that the lawyer endorsed the statement few days after he had recorded the statement, and that it was not in her presence. COURT STRIKES OUT GOVT APPEAL AGAINST 659 SACKED BATCH D1 TEACHERS

Yola Appeal Court in Adamawa State on Friday, struck out an appeal filed by the state government, challenging the verdict of the National Industrial Court on 659 Batch D1 Teachers. The Industrial Court had in its judgement delivered by Justice NCS Ogbuanya, on Wednesday 13th June 2018, declared as illegal  sacking of 659 Batch D1 Teachers. However, Justice Ogbuanya, ordered Adamawa State government to pay the whooping N660 million to the affected teachers who had served for the period of 29th months before their appointments were terminated. Likewise, the court in suit No. NICN/YL/03/2015, ordered government to pay another N22 million to the teachers as damages for failing to pay them as at the time of the judgement.
