FINTIRI VS LAWAN: LAWYERS TO FILE NO CASE SUBMISSION TODAY

Adamawa state based politician, A.A.Lawan Uba, is set to file no case submission in the trial involving him and Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri. Lawan, through his counsels led by F. A. Ogbe, Chief Legal Officer of the Legal Aid Council of Nigeria is expected to file no case submission after the prosecution had closed its case. The defendant who has been in prison custody for 31 days,  accused Fintiri of betraying him and his supporters and vowed to ensure that Fnitiri does not win election for 2rd  term come 2023. The politician has been standing trial before the Chief Magistrare Court 4 in Yola, Adamawa state over alleged defamation of character and several other offences which he had denied perpetrating it. JUST IN: ADAMAWA ASSEMBLY APPOINTS GOMBI LAWMAKER AS NEW M/LEADER

The Adamawa State House of Assembly has just appointed the Member representing Gombi constituency, Hon. Japhet Kefas, as the new Majority Leader. Hon. Kefas replaced the former Majority Leader and Member representing Jada Mbulo constituency, Hon. Hammantukur Yettisuri, who defected to the opposition New Nigeria Peoples Party. The Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, announced the appointment of the Majority Leader while presiding over the Tuesday resumed plenary session. The Speaker however congratulated the new Majority Leader and wished him well while piloting his official duty. Reacting over the appointment, the new Majority Leader, Hon. Japhet Kefas, thanked the Speaker and Honourable House for the appointment and promised to justify the confidence reposed in him.

The Jimeta Area Court II sitting in Yola, Adamawa state has ordered the remand of Hon. Hamza Mahmud, Candidate for the New Nigeria Peoples' Party for Uba/Gaya constituency at the State Assembly. The court presided by Hon. Muhammad Alamin Diya Lamurde, ordered the remand of the politician in prison custody until the 23rd September, 2022 over the allegation of criminal breach of trust and cheating. Hon. Hamza, was arraigned before the court by the Jambutu Divisional Police headquaters for the alleged offences which contravened sections 302 and 312 of the penal code law. Corpral Ismail Mohammed, the prosecutor stated that the defendant had collected the sum of N12.1million from a man, Abdulrasheed Suleiman of Lamido Sanda road Yola South LGA. He informed the court that the defendant had collected the money sometimes in December, 2021 to engage in business with a promise to refund it few months later. To this end, the Legislators may embark on the amendment of the Local Government Establishment Law Number 17 of 2013, for the creation of Development Areas. The motion for the creation of additional Development Areas was brought before the hallowed chamber on Monday by Hon. Abubakar Isa(Shelleng). The accused identified as Gayawan Danzaria, 22, and Thank-God Obadia, 18, hail from Shimba in Dumne Development Area, Song Local Government Area, Adamawa state. Gayawan and Thank-God are being investigated by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Adamawa state Police Command in connection to murder. The suspects axed the 85 year old man and resident of Shimba to death after the deceased was accused of witchraft by a woman who allegedly hired the youngmen. The woman who is now at large had accused the deceased of bewitching her son and arranged with the alleged assassins on how to go after him. MADAGALI LEGISLATOR DONATES CARS, 52 GRINDING MACHINES, CASH TO 500 CONSTITUENTS

The Member representing Madagali constituency at the Adamawa state House of Assembly, Hon. Haruna Jilantikiri, on Saturday, donated 3 sienna buses as well as 52 grinding machines to his electorate. The vehicles were donated to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Muslim Council of Nigeria(MCN) and the Leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in the LGA. Likewise, the Member has donated 52 grinding machines and disbursed cash to 500 constituents to enable them engage in small scale businesses in order to become self reliant. Speaking at the event, the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, applauded the legislator for empowering his electorate with such items.
