MAN KILLS ELDER BROTHER FOR BEWITCHING SON's WIFE IN GUYUK LGA

Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 42 year old man identified as John Clerkson, for allegedly killing his elder brother accused of witchcraft. NEWS PLATFORM  John, who hails from Dumna Zarbu in Guyuk Local Government Areas, allegedly murdered his 57 year old elder brother known as Mohammed Clerkson. The accused allegedly killed the father of 8 on the 29 August, 2023, during quarrel over the allegation of bewitching the wife of his own son. NEWS PLATFORM gathered that Mohammed was fingered as the witch who caught the spirit of the wife of his son, Robbert Mohammed, as a result of which she fainted. When the news broke out that he was the witch terrorising the inhabitants of the community, people  started trouping with their sick family members to the residence of the deceased to release their spirits. It was learnt that fight ensued between the deceased and the suspect when the later approached him over the allegations of bewitching their daughter and other sick people...

FUFORE/GURIN LAWMAKER CONDOLES VICTIMS OF BOAT MISHAP

The Member representing Fufore/Gurin at the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Barr. Umar Bobbo Ismail, has extended his deepest condolences to the victims of Monday boat accident in his constituency. A wooden boat conveying many farmers, mostly women and children capsized in a river in Gurin, a surburb of Fufore Local Government Area, claiming 11 lives as reported on the media. In his condolences message on his behalf and that of his entire  constituents, Hon. Barr. Ismail, sympathized with the survivors and the families of those who lost their lives. The Lawmaker said that he had received the news of the incident with a rude shock, saying that his entire constituency was deeply saddened with the incident. AGAIN, MANY FEARED DEAD AS BOAT CAPSIZES IN FUFORE LGA

A boat conveying many people on Monday, capsized in a river in Gurin, a surburb of Fufore Local Government Area, Adamawa state. A local source told NEWS PLATFORM that the victims, mostly women and children were missing after the wooden boat capsized. According to the source, the victims were returning from farms and naming ceremony. When contacted, the Executive Secretary Adamawa State Emergency Management Agency, ADSEMA, Dr. Mohammed Suleiman has confirmed the incident. Dr. Suleinman said that the incident occurred this afternoon, but that the agency is making effort to rescue the victims. Also, when contacted, the member representing Fufore/Gurin constituency at the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Barr. Umar Bobbo Ismail, confirmed the incident.

42 PRISONERS REGAIN FREEDOM, 27 OTHERS GRANTED BAIL IN ADAMAWA

Adamawa State Jail Delivery Committee on Monday, discharged a total number of 42 inmates awaiting trial at the Yolde Pate Correctional Centre. NEWS PLATFORM  The Committee equally granted bail to no fewer than 27 inmates and summarily convicted 2 inmates out of 203 inmates attended to by the committee. The committee convicted and sentenced the 2 inmates to 5 years imprisonment each after confessing to the alleged offences of which they were remanded. The Jail Delivery Committee headed by the Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Hapsat Abdulrahaman, discharged the inmates when the committee visited Yolde Pate Correctional Center. Yolde Pate New Medium Security Custodial Center is currently housing 865 inmates.

POLICE ARREST 4 "SHILA" BOYS, RECOVER TRICYCLE, KNIVES, OTHERS

Police in Adamawa State have arrested 4 suspected "Shila" boys and recovered tricycle and knives among other weapons. The suspects include: Kabiru Yahaya, 18, of Kala'a' street, Abdulazees Mohammed, 23, of Wuro Kuturu, Adamu Babayo,18, of Bauchi street and Ibrahim Mohammed, 20 year-old resident of Nasarawo Borehole. A statement by the PPRO of the Command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said that all the suspects are indigenes of Yola North Local Government Area and were arrested on the 10th September, 2023. He explained that a combined team of Police and Members of Local Security Support Group(Vigilantes ) nabbed the suspects after robbing some residents of Demsawo and Nasarawo wards respectively. He attributed the success to another operational strategy introduced by the Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, designed to checkmate "Shila" gangsterism. SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje assured that the suspects will be prosecuted in accordance with extant laws.

ADAMAWA JAIL DELIVERY C'TTEE TO BEGIN PRISON VISIT ON MONDAY

Adamawa State Jail Delivery Committee is set to commence prison visit on the 11th September, 2023. The committee is expected to visit all the correctional centres across the state. It is based on the foregoing that the Adamawa State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Hafsat Abdulrahman, directed all judges to be at various correctional centers for the visit. Hon. Justice Hapsat in a release by the Director Information, Special Duties and Protocol, Sunday Kadiri, directed all judges of the Upper Area Courts, Magistrates Courts, and Area Courts to be at the correctional centers for the visit.  According to the release, the committee will kick start its visit at Yola South and Yola North correctional centers respectively. Thereafter, according to the release, the committee will proceed to Mubi North, Mubi South, Maiha, Hong, Gombi, Song, Numan, Shelleng, Guyuk, Mayo-belwa, Jada and Ganye LGAs.
