POLICE, MILITARY NAB 4 KIDNAPPERS IN MICHIKA LGA

The Adamawa Police Command in collaboration with the Military have apprehended 4 suspected kidnappers in Michika LGA as well as recovered AK-47 rifle and 5 live ammunition. The suspects are: Abubakar Abdullahi, 39, Mubi South LGA, Ibrahim Garba, 35, Askira Uba LGA, Borno State, Isa Ahmadu, 30, and Bulama Ahmadu,20, residents of Dawarsa in Yobe State. The suspects allegedly abducted Aminu Alhaji Shehu and Ali Alhaji Shehu of Tudun Wada, Michika LGA. A statement by the image maker of the command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, on Friday, said that the suspects were arrested on the 8th February, 2024. He said that another coordinated crime fighting strategy was carried out in collaboration with Hunters at Gamu Hill in Jada LGA. According to him, the operation yielded success as one amongst the syndicate of abductors terrorizing Jada, Ganye and villages around them was neutralised and one AK-47 rifle recovered. The Senator representing Adamawa Central Senatorial District, Aminu Iya Abbas has commiserated with the Adamawa state government over the death of Maj. Gen. M. H. Garba. Sen. Abbas, also sympathised with the citizens as well as Hong Local Government in particular, over the death of Maj. Gen. M. SHILA" BOY STABBED TO DEATH AS GANG CLASH WITH VIGILANTES

" A suspected "Shila" boy was reportedly stabbed to death during a clash between the gang members and the vigilantes in Yola, Adamawa State. The deceased identified as Uba was stabbed in the stomach with a knife by one of the vigilantes when the gang invaded Demsawo Government Day Secondary. The hoodlums who armed themselves with knives, sticks and cutlasses, launched an attack on the school, assaulted the teachers and damaged cars as well as school facilities. SPEAKER BATHIYA SWEARS IN RUFAI AS NEW LAWMAKER FOR GOMBI

The Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, on Wednesday, swore in Hon. Rufai Umar as new member representing Gombi constituency. This development followed the annulment of the election of Hon. Japhet Kefas, of the Peoples Democratic Party by the Election Petitions Tribunal, the verdict which was affirmed by Court of Appeal. The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, nullified the election of Hon. Japhet, and declared Hon. Rufai Umar, of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner of the poll for the constituency. Hon. MAN WHO PRETENDS TO BE A GHOST TO DUPE PEOPLE IN POLICE NET

Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 59 years old man for allegedly defrauding members of the public. The suspect, Muhammad Abubakar (aka), Malam Sabo, who was arrested on the 5th February, 2024, was said to be an habitual fraudster who specializes in defrauding Members of the public in a disguised manner. The PPRO of the command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, who confirmed the arrest, said that the suspect normally hide his identity while pretending to be a ghost talking to his victims in different voices. The suspect at times changes tone of his voice to that of woman or child's to dupe his victims, saying he rcently tricked and duped one Abba Bale of Demsawo the sum of three Hundred thousand (N300,000)

YEDC LAMENTS RISING SPATE OF VANDALISM, ENERGY THEFT

Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) has observed with dismay the rising spate of vandalism and energy theft, appealing for cooperation from the general public in order to tackle it.  According to the YEDC, infrastructure vandalism and energy theft remain the greatest obstacles of the company, saying that in spite of the challenges, the company is striving hard to provide better services to its customers. It is against this backdrop that the company on Tuesday, organised a day workshop on the YEDC-NESI Journalists Engagement Programme, which attracted practicing journalists in Adamawa State.
