About 80 out of 130 Extension Staff of Adamawa State Agricultural Development Programme (AADP) have retired from service in the year 2020.
The Programme Manager AADP, Dauda Ibrahim Mbulo made this known while receiving House Standing Committee on Agriculture of the state House of Assembly led by its Chairman, Hon. Simon Isa(Song constituency) on a familiarisation visit on Tuesday.
Ibrahim Mbulo told the committee that only yesterday he signed the retirement letters of 15 Extension Staff, saying most of them were employed between 1984 and 1985, and known their job very well.
According to him, the major concern of the organisation is that most of them that retired from service are highly experienced staff, lamenting that the retirement of the staff has adversely affected extension delivery in the state.
He added that currently they do not have enough of such Staff, and that any programme that is coming to AADP which involves agriculture is domiciled, explaining that the functions of the agency have started depleting in recent years due challenges.
Another problem of the organisation, according to him, has been the dilapidated nature of the structures, and called for government's intervention.
Dauda Ibrahim Mbulo pointed out that AADP was established in 1980s, as a service organisation to uplift the standard of living of rural farmers by improving their agricultural activities by leading them to agricultural practices in various areas.
