National Leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has finally laid to rest the lingering leadership tussle rocking Adamawa Youth Wing of the Association (YOWICAN), insisting that Godwin Joseph is the President of Youth CAN in Adamawa state.
A statement by the National Secretary of the Association, Barr Daramola Joseph Bade and made available to NEWS PLATFORM in Yola, the Adamawa State capital Saturday, said that the Association only recognises Godwin as the authentic President of Adamawa Youth Wing of the Association.
The National Secretary disclosed that the YOWICAN election conducted on the 14th December, 2019 where Godwin Joseph and other Exco emerged stands.
The statement further commended the leadership of CAN for its prompt compliance with the recommendations of National Exco, NEC of 23rd October, 2019, and the cancellation of the 18th May, 2019, YOWICAN elections and recommendations of fresh elections.
He added that the National leadership was adequately informed about the State Exco Meeting of 28th October, 2019, and the expanded Exco Meeting of 25th November, 2019 which included the Bloc Leaders as the stakeholders where NEC decision was adopted and unanimously upheld as 14th December, 2019 was fixed for YOWICAN CAN election.
Barr Bade appreciated YOWICAN delegates who respectfully complied and participated in the fresh elections of 14th December, 2019, adding that NEC took the painful decision as a result of crisis in Adamawa YOWICAN after gross violations of the election guidelines and procedures.
He also appealed to the aggrieved youths, most especially the Bloc Leaders in the state to bury their differences and support the new YOWICAN leadership led by Godwin Joseph in order to bring sanity in the Christendom.
