HON. ADWAWA SEEKS GOVT INTERVENTION AS ADHA SETS UP CTEE ON GUYUK CLASH

Sequel to communal clash between Lunguda and Waja communities in Guyuk Local Government Area in Adamawa state which claimed several lives, the House of Assembly has set up an Ad Hoc Committee with a mandate to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The Committee is equally directed to visit both Guyuk and Lamurde LGAs to have an on the spot assessment of devastation, the remote cause of the clash and suggest possible ways on how to prevent reoccurrence.

Likewise, the Committee which has Hon. Japheth Kefas(Gombi) as Chairman, and Hon. Pwamwakaino Mackondo(Numan), Hon. Joseph Ayuba Kwada(Michika), Hon. Adwawa Donglock(Guyuk), Hon. Abubakar Isa (Shelleng), Hon. Myandassa Bauna(Lamurde) and Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno as members is expected to work in tandem with the  Chairmen of Guyuk and Lamurde LGC so as to proffer lasting solution.

Furthermore, the Lawmakers have called on the State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) to as a matter of urgency provide relief materials to Mamsirme, Zakawon Adaka, Boshikiri Low-cost, Tarakira and Burti worst hit areas..

This action followed a matter of public importance sponsored by the Member representing Guyuk constituency, Hon. Adwawa Donglock at a resumed plenary session presided by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas on Thursday.

Earlier, the Legislator told the House that many lives were lost, households burnt down, domestic animals also destroyed, explaining that the clash lasted for several hours until the intervention of the security operatives who brought the situation under control.

According to him, many families were rendered homeless and currently taking refuge in neighboring communities, thereby appealing for government intervention so as to ameliorate the suffering faced by the victims.

The Deputy Chief Whip specifically commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for delegating his deputy, Chief Crowther Seth and other top government functionaries along side service Chiefs  who visited the affected communities so as to sympathise with them.

The Lawmaker further asked his colleagues to mandate emergency management agencies to quickly supply relief materials to the victims, appealing to citizens to embrace dialogue in resolving issues.

The Speaker, Rt, Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas who presided over the sitting, directed the clerk to communicate the resolutions of the House to Governor Fintiri and other relevant agencies.
