ADAMAWA LGC CHAIRMEN HAIL ADHA C'TEE'S NEW STEPS TO END INSECURITY


Executive Chairmen of Ganye, Toungo, Jada and Mayo Belwa Local Government Councils in Adamawa state have commended the new steps taken by the State House of Assembly Standing Committee on Security towards tackling security challenges at the grassroots level.

The LGC Bosses disclosed that the new initiatives by the Committee towards tackling/reversing the ugly trend of kidnapping, rape, herder/farmer clashes, and armed banditry in their LGCs is coming at the right, and that it will go along way in curbing the menace.

Recall that the House Committee on Security led by its Chairman and Member representing Mayo Belwa constituency, Hon. Ibrahim Musa Italiya had on Thursday embarked on an oversight function aimed at rallying all actors towards achieving sustainable peace at the LGCs.

Already, the Committee which is expected to tour all the 21 LGAs has so far visited Toungo, Ganye, Jada and Mayo Belwa LGAs where its had a close door meeting with the stakeholders of the respective LGAs.

Interestingly, the Members of the Honourable Committee including its Hon. Japhet Kefas(Gombi), Hon. Haruna Jelatikiri(Madagali), Hon. Bathiya Wesley (Hong) met with the stakeholders including the Chairmen of the LGCs, other Principal Officers of the LGCs, the Divisional Police Officers, National Security and Civil Defense Corpse(NSCDC), Department of Security Service(DSS), Vigilante Groups, Local Hunters, Traditional and Religious Leaders among others.

According the Committee, the oversight function is geared towards fostering synergy between security agencies and stakeholders in the enforcement of security measures that will nip in the bud security threats at the nook and crannies of the entire state.

Speaking while receiving the Committee, the Chairmen of the Councils,  Hon. Calvin Kefas(Toungo), Rev. Habila Istifanus(Ganye), Hon. Abdulkarim Bakala(Jada) and Hon. Gershon Kasuwa(Mayo Belwa) applauded the steps adopted by the Committee towards tackling security challenges....
