The resolutions of the Honourable House followed a matter of urgent public importance brought before the house by the Member representing Leko Koma constituency, Hon. Abdullahi Ahmadu, at a resumed plenary session presided by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas on Wednesday.

Earlier, Hon. Abdullahi told the house that on the 5th June, 2020, there was a violent windstorm which swept through his constituency and wrecked a very serious havoc in three (3) wards which include; Mapeo, So'o and Koma.

The windstorm, according to him, which occurred in the night, destroyed about 150 households, foodstuffs and other valuables in many communities, saying that the affected houses had their roofs completely removed by the wind, and many families have been rendered homeless and currently taking refuge in neighbouring houses.

The lawmaker said no life was lost, but many people were wounded because some of the structures had collapsed on them, explaining that the incident has really destabilised his people who are mostly farmers and preparing for the new cropping season.

He prayed the Honourable House to mandate relevant standing committees to visit the affected communities and assess the level of damage caused by the disaster for proper action, as well as direct Jada Local Government Council to assist the victims.

He also urged the House to direct the State Emergency Management Agency(ADSEMA) and any other relevant agencies to urgently provide relief materials to the affected, and special call on Fintiri to direct Ministry of Works and Housing to come to their aid and rehabilitate/ reconstruct the damaged structures.

Hon. Abdullahi Ahmadu told his colleagues that the adoption and implementation of his demands by both the House of Assembly and executive arm will cushion the impact of the devastation on his electorate.

Several Lawmakers including Hon. Abdullahi Umar Yapak(Verre), Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno(Demsa), Hon. Abubskar Isa(Shelleng), Hon. Simon Isa(Song), Hon. Hammatukur Yetisuri(Jada Mbulo) who spoke on the motion, commended the member for bringing up the issue before the house, and however condoled with the victims of the disaster.
