TOWN HALL MEETING: STAKEHOLDERS LAUD ADHA MEMBER FOR QUALITY REPRESENTATION


Stakeholders in Nasarawo Binyeri, Mayo Belwa Local Government Area, Adamawa state have commended the Member representing their constituency at the House of Assembly, Hon. Umar Nashon Gubi for providing them with people oriented representation.

However, the Stakeholders have presented the immediate needs of their people at the grassroots to the Honourable Member for consideration and possible implementation.

The Stakeholders who made the commendation at a town hall meeting organised by the member, Hon. Umar Nashon on Saturday, said that the member has been living up to the expectation of the their people.

Hon. Umar Nashon has organised the meeting primarily to meet with his electorate and deliberate on the immediate needs of his constituents, and the possibility of solving them.

During the meeting, the representatives of the wards forwarded the needs of their communities to the Member and pleaded with him to look into it with a view to solving them at his level or by the Executive Governor of the state, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

Being first of its kind to be organised in the constituency, the meeting attracted prominent prominent personalities of the land as well as representatives of the 7 Wards including Gang Fada, Tola, Gorobi, Bajama, Nasarawo Jereng, Binyeri.

Some of the major problems of communities presented to the Honourable Member include, lack of portable water supply, deplorable health facilities, dilapidated structures in public schools, poor road network, lack of job/ empowerment opportunities for youth and women, security challenges and host of others.

Responding to some of the needs presented to him, the convener and the member representing Nasarawo Binyeri constituency, Hon. Umar Nashon Gubi appreciated the representatives of his electorate for taking their time to identify some problems affecting them.

Hon. Nashon lamented that the constituency is lagging behind in terms of development due to poor road road network connecting communities, saying the issue of road network has been hampering the movement of goods and services.

The Lawmaker told them that he is barely 1 year in office and that he was able to execute some of projects even the fact the execution of capital projects does not form part of his constitutional responsibility.

He told them that his primary responsibility at the hallowed chamber is lawmaking and passing of resolutions, and assured them of his readiness to lobby for the implementation of some of their needs.

He said that their government met a huge problem on the ground more especially the debt profile left behind by the immediate past government , saying that their government is working hard to deliver on its campaign promises.

Earlier, in his address the Special Adviser to Governor Fintiri, Aminu Sebore decried security challenges confronting the society, and called for unity irrespective of ethno religious differences for peace and development.

In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the occasion and former Chairman Mayo Belwa LGC, Hon. Mohammed Buji, said that the reason behind organising the town hall meeting was to deliberate on issues affecting the entire constituency.

The Chairman pointed out that it will not be proper to wait until the time of elections before interacting with them, saying this is the right time for them to meet face to face and deliberate on issues affecting them.

Mohammed Buji informed them that there are challenges that the member will address and that there are those beyond his powers, explaining that some of the problems can be handled by the legislator while others by the state government.

In his vote of thanks, the Executive Chairman Mayo Belwa LGC, Hon. Geshon Kasuwa commended the member for organising a historic event.

Hon. Kasuwa said that though he was once a member but could not organise such a meeting, and called on him not to relent in doing his best for his constituents.
