ADAMAWA CP MOVES TO CURTAIL FARMER/ HERDER CLASHES IN GIREI LGA


In an effort to nip in the bud clashes between farmers and herdsmen in communities of Girei Local Government Area Adamawa state, the State Police Command has engaged stakeholders in the communities in an interaction session with a view to curbing the clashes.

To this end, the Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Olugbenga Adeyanju had last week visited Khoh, Gereng, Tambo and Labondo, communities where in the recent past were adversely affected by such clashes.

The Commissioner of Police along side the Executive Chairman of the LGC, Hon. Judah Amisa, the District Head of Girei and Ubandoma Adamawa, Alhaji Ahmed Ibrahim Mustapha took a trip to communities and interacted with Community Leaders on the need to live in peace and harmony.

During the visit, both Hon.Judah and the District Head of Girei keyed into the laudable Initiative of the CP, and pledged not to relent in sensitising their subjects on the need to resort to dialogue/ legal means of solving problems than taking laws into their hands.

In particular, Hon. Amisa who observed the occurrence of such clashes with concern, advised the inhabitants of the communities to coexist peacefully, saying no meaningful development will be recorded in a chaotic atmosphere.

Though, first of its kind to be initiated for the worst hit communities in Girei, the interactive session was adjudged to be fruitful and said will go along way in bringing about lasting peace in the communities.

Speaking while visiting the communities, CP Adeyanju appealed to all the stakeholders to strive assiduously towards the maintenance of peace and stability in the communities, saying that the command will not take it lightly with whoever foment trouble.

He thanked the entire citizens of Girei for their understanding, and assured them that the police will not only be professionals but adopt sensitive approach in handling all cases with a view to ensuring that lives and Property are protected .

Baring their minds separately, the Chairman of the LGC, Hon. Juda Amisa and the District Head Dr Ahmed Ibrahim Mustapha commended the  Commissioner of Police for the laudable Initiative, and expressed optimism that the session will go along way in proffering solution to such clashes.
