JAPHET KEFAS SPLASHES #.4MILLION, HERBICIDES ON 876 FARMERS IN GOMBI


As part of effort to support farmers in order to boost food production in the society, the Member representing Gombi constituency at the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Japhet Kefas, has donated herbicides to about 876 farmers in Gombi LGA.

The Legislator has also disbursed over #400,000 to the benefiting farmers, officials of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the Local Government and Ward levels, Party Agents, Legislative Councilors, Youth Support Group, National Union of Road Transport Workers(NURTW), Local Hunters among others.

It could be recalled that Hon. Kefas who is also the Chairman House Standing Committee on Information recently donated 2 transformers worth #6million as part of effort to connect Gadan Mai Saje and Ganjara communities with power supply.

According to the Lawmaker, the items were procured from his monthly salary and not from constituency allowance, explaining that the kind gesture was aimed at adding value to the lives of his people as promised during electioneering campaign.

Speaking while donating the herbicides and cash to his electorate at Government Lodge in Gombi LGA on Saturday, Hon. Kefas appreciated his electorate for their support towards his success.

He said that the gesture was a fulfilment of his promises to the people of Gombi, and that he expects his electorate at every polling unit to benefit from it, saying that his people had struggled before, during and after elections that brought him to power, and that he cannot afford to betray them.

He added that he will continue to supplement farmers' efforts, complement Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri's efforts in revamping educational sector, providing water supply, explaining that he will continue to support them whenever resources are made available.

He called on the beneficiaries to use the herbicides according to prescription, and appealed to those that could not get to exercise patience as their time is coming, expressing optimism for bumper harvest at the end of the season.

In his remarks, the Chairman PDP Gombi LGA, Hon. Hamman Barau congratulated the benefiting farmers for the support accorded them by the member, describing him as a good representative.

He disclosed that Hon. Japhet Kefas is the kind of Lawmaker the people of Gombi have been yearning for base on his contributions on the floor of the house and at his constituency level, and pledged to continue to support him to ensure his success.

Also speaking, the Vice Chairman of PDP Gombi LGC, Hon. Sadiq Kawu said that the people of Gombi have nothing to regret in voting for Hon. Kefas, saying that the Member had sank boreholes for his people, constructed worship places (mosques), donated transformers among others.

Baring his mind, the PDP Chairman Ga'ada Ward, Hon. Kantoma Hamman thanked the Member for his effort towards fulfilling his campaign promises, saying that the Legislator had surprised them with the items at the right time.

The Chairman said that their people more especially farmers were thinking on how to get the herbicides unknown to them that the member has a good plan for them in that direction, and appealed to them to prepare very well on how to reward him.
