As Adamawa state House of Assembly is making necessary arrangements for the successful conduct of this year's budget defence, the House of Assembly Standing Committee on Finance, Budget and Appropriation says it will ensure thorough scrutiny on every dime appropriated for expenditure next year.
The Chairman of the Committee and Member representing Demsa constituency, Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno stated this in a telephone chat with NEWS PLATFORM in Yola, the Adamawa state capital yesterday.
It could be recalled that Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri had on Tuesday presented the whooping sum of #183.3 as proposed budget estimate for the services of both the recurrent (#85.9) and capital (#97.4) expenditures respectively for the year 2020, to the house for consideration and subsequent approval.
Hon. Kate Mamuno said that her Committee is making necessary arrangements for the successful conduct of the budget defence, pointing out that her Committee will leave no stone unturned towards ensuring that everything appropriated is defended.
She added that the budget proposals is with her Committee for observation and advice where necessary, and that very soon the Committee will kick start the defence.
The female legislator explained that she has directed the secretary of her Committee to draft a schedule for the exercise and likewise communicate to all the Ministries, Agencies and Departments cut across the state for them to prepare and defend their budget.
She added that all the House Standing Committees are well prepared to scrutinise the budget in line with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, saying that no MDA will be victimised, as both the executive and legislative arms of government work for a common goal.
