HOUSE C'TEE ON SECURITY SEEKS WAYS TO ENDING INSECURITY IN ADAMAWA



In a bid to complement the effort of the present administration towards curtailing insecurity bedevilling some parts of the state, the Adamawa State House of Assembly Standing Committee on Security and Boarder Integration has taken steps aimed at ending insecurity in the state.

To this end, the House Committee headed by the member representing Michika constituency, Hon. Joseph Ayuba Kwada has visited all the 21 Local Government Areas with a view strengthening the security at the grassroots level.

According to the committee, areas of interest that had prompted it to undertake the visit include; kidnapping, armed robbery, drugs abuse, theft, communal clashes, religious intolerance and farmers/herdsmen clashes among others.

Speaking to NEWS PLATFORM on the visit, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Joseph Ayuba Kwada(Michika Constituency) said that his committee found it imperative to tour all the LGAs so as to acquaint itself with the challenges facing people at the grassroots.

Hon. Ayuba Kwada noted that each LGA has its peculiar security challenges; hence, the need to undertake the tour of all the LGAs so as to get acquainted with some of them and how to address them for peace and stability in the society.

He disclosed that the effort of his committee was in line with the laws of the land and Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri's administration policy towards maintenance of security of lives and property of the citizens.

The lawmaker added that the committee was adequately briefed on the challenges and how best to curtail them and  further advocated for a concerted efforts from all citizens towards ending checkmate it.

He stated that the committee had during the tour resolved and directed all the 21 LG Transition Committees to liaise with the Nigeria Police,  Army,  Civil Defense, Immigration, Customs, Local Hunters/Vigilantes groups, Traditional and Religious Leaders and other stakeholders with a view to ending insecurity.

He urged most especially religious leaders and traditional rulers to preach peace to their followers, saying without peace no meaningful development will be recorded.

Hon. Joseph Ayuba Kwada disclosed that crises does not spear anybody, and that there is no need for people that go to the same market, school, hospital, ply the same road, play politics together and be killing each other.
