ADAMAWA POLICE CONFIRM THE ABDUCTION OF DPO IN MUBI

Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the kidnapping of Ahijo Mujeli, Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Mubi in the state.

According to reports, the DPO was driving in his personal car around 6.30 p.m. along Mubi-Maraba road near the toll-gate on Tuesday when he was kidnapped.

The spokesman of the command, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, who confirmed the incident in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Wednesday, said the DPO was abducted by gunmen on Tuesday night, along Mubi-Maraba road.

DSP Yahaya Nguroje added that there were gunshots around the area, but when their men arrived, they met an empty car identified as the vehicle of the victim.

He told NAN that the anti-kidnapping unit and Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Inspector General of Police (I-G) had swung into action with a view to trailing the suspected kidnappers.

He appealed to the general public to furnish the command with relevant security information on criminals for necessary action.
