Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State
Hopefully, the 23 Commissioners Designate expected to serve in Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri's administration would be sworn in tomorrow Monday amidst high expectations from the citizens in the state.
Traditionally, it is believed that to whom much is given, much is expected and if that comes to play which is certainly will, then Fintiri and his new team must be in for a serious business.
Interestingly, the new Commissioners expected to be sworn in tomorrow include; Mohammed Umaru( Madagali), Elijah Rumba and Dr. Ishaya John Dabari( Michika), Barr. Sunday Mathew(Mubi North), Prof. Isa Abdullahi (Mubi South), Hassan Kaigama( Maiha), Dr. Umaru Garba Ph.D,(Hong), Lami Patrict (Gombi), Abdullahi Adamu Prambe( Song), Usman Yahaya Diyajo (Girei), Umaru Iya Daware(Fufore), Ibrahim Yayaji Mijinyawa(Yola North).
Others are; Mustapha Musa Jika( Yola South), Sanusi Faruk(Toungo), Bappa Dalhatu Isa( Ganye), Aloysius Babadoke and Adamu Atiku( Jada), Shuaibu Audu(Mayo Belwa), Iliya James( Demsa), Dr. Dishi Khobe, PhD( Numan), Justina Nkom(Lamurde), Wulbina Jackson ( Guyuk), Adamu Titus(Shelleng).
It could be recalled that the Governor had upon assumption of office in May this year, made it categorically clear that he was not going to appoint members of the cabinet until after 3 months so as to enable him stabilise and make things work again in the state.
But in fulfilment of his promise, the Governor nominated 23 people for appointment as commissioners where he sought for the House of Assembly's confirmation to that effect. The house, in a unanimous decision confirmed the nominees and now awaiting their swearing which is expected to take place tomorrow.
What many citizens are contemplating at the moment is how these new set of commissioners will make a difference in the lives of the people at the grassroots taking into cognisance their yearnings and aspirations for good governance over the years.
Let's make it abundantly clear to the new exco that their coming is at a time when the state is faced with all sorts challenges ranging from kidnapping, armed banditry, herder/farmer clashes, economic crisis, corruption among other contentious issues. And their contributions towards addressing those challenges will mean a lot to the new government.
The new exco are expected to take far reaching decisions on the issues pertaining to over bloated employment carried out by the past government, effective implementation of free education policy introduced by the government, construction of fly over, construction of 2000 housing units and many other projects initiated by the government of the day...
To be continued
