SPEAKER ADHA HOSTS UBA YOUTH, WOMEN IN POLITICS, PHCDA, PLEDGES SUPPORT
Speaker Adamawa state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, has hosted Uba Youths Empowerment Initiative (UYEI), Adamawa Women in Politics as well as State Primary Health Care Development Agency(PHCDA), pledging to support the activities of the organisations so as to succeed.
The organisations led by their principal officers were in the speaker's office on a courtesy visit where they appealed for support and assistance from the Speaker and the House of Assembly to see to the success of their activities.
Speaking while receiving Uba Youths Empowerment Initiative (UYEI), the Speaker disclosed that UYEI was the first youth organisation with noble objectives of engaging the youth that visited his office, pledging to look into the request of the organisation for possible solution.
Rt. Hon. Iya Abbas, said that his primary reason of being in the office is to provide needed assistance in terms of facilitating employment of his constituents, awarding scholarships and engaging most especially the Youths into meaningful activities in the society.
He advised the Youths to engage themselves into productive ventures while awaiting other meaningful opportunities, lamenting that the major problem of the people in northern Nigeria is relying heavily on government for everything.
He urged on the Youths around the state most especially those that have ambition of going to higher institutions to study professional courses such as engineering, law, medicine among several others to enable them become self reliant in the society.
Also speaking while receiving Adamawa Women in Politics, the Speaker assured them of the readiness of the House towards supporting them whenever the need arises, and advised them to equally render support to each other so as to be able overcome their challenges.
The Presiding Officer further appealed to them to take active part in Politics by joining all major political parties so that anytime any political party will form government, women will have a number of those that will speak for them.
He reiterated the commitment of the 7th Assembly to according premium attention to issues pertaining women in its scheme of things and thanked them for the visit.
But the Speaker had while responding to the request forwarded to his office by PHCDA, he offered to partner with the agency so address some of the challenges confronting it for effective health care service delivery in and around the state.
The Legislator told the agency that an improved health care delivery system by PHCDA will equally enhance the living standard of the citizens, assuring that the Hallowed Chamber will work in whatever way the agency wants in order to tackle its challenges.
According to him, the issue of workers in education and health sectors respectively is an issue of concern to the government of the day, observing that people retire on daily basis, but the salary bill and other entitlements remain the same without any reduction.
Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas advocated for serious action on the part of government so address some of the problems affecting effective service delivery in all the critical sectors for the progress of the state.
Earlier in his remarks, the President of Uba Youths Empowerment Initiatives, Mallam Musa Sale, said that they were at the speaker's office to congratulate him and at the same time notify him about the existing of the Youths organisation.
Mallam Sale explained that the organisation was founded with the aimed of reducing unemployment rate amongst teeming Youths of Uba and give scholarship to its members.
The President pointed out that the initiative has 155 registered intellectuals and its membership spread across all the units in his constituency, and said they are planning to organise workshop on girl child education.
He used the forum and commended the Speaker and House of Assembly for what he described as laudable achievements they have recorded so far.
On her part, the President Adamawa Women in Politics who is also the Member representing Demsa constituency, Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuni, who spoke through the Secretary of the organisation, Comfort Ibrahim Ezra made a passionate appeal on the present administration to consider appointing more women into sensitive political offices.
Also speaking while leading other principal officers of PHCDA, the Chairman of the agency, Dr. Batulu Isa Mohammed, lauded the support the agency has been receiving from the goverment of the day.
Dr. Batulu harped on the need for increment in counterpart funding on immunisation, and further advocated for the House legislation so as to place immunisation on first line charge, calling on the House to partner with her agency with a view to addressing its pressing problems.
