HON. BABAS COMMISERATES WITH FLOOD VICTIMS, DONATES CASH
As communities continue to count losses following recent flood disaster which wrecked havoc in several Local Government Areas in Adamawa state, the member representing Fufore Gurin constituency at the State House of Assembly, Hon. Shuaibu Babas, has sympathised with the victims in his constituency.
Hon. Babas, had while visiting the affected communities which include; Farkumo, Dulo Bwatiye, Bilachi and Tungan Noma in Fufore LGA today, presented cash to the victims, and appealed for intervention from appropriate authorities.
The state lawmaker was accompanied by his Director General( DG) Campaign Organisation and former Permanent Secretary, Mr.Barnabas Pata, ex-Road Safety Officer, Commander Yahaya Kawu, Assistant Director, Health Services Management Board, Mohammed Danladi, a stakeholder Abubakar Umar Jariri, among others.
Speaking at Farkumo, Hon. Babas, told the victims that he came primarily to sympathise with them over the disaster and to ascertain the level of damage recorded in his constituency for upward presentation to the relevant authorities.
He added that he was elected to represent them by identifying with them in every situation whether good or bad, because according to him, it is part of his responsibility, and assured them that he will continue to lobby for them to get whatever that is provided for victims in the state.
While at Dulo Bwatiye, the Chairman House Standing Committee on Public Petition told them that the House of Assembly has taken action towards addressing annual flooding which mostly comes as a result of the release of water from Lagdo Dam in Cameroon.
According to him, the Assembly has mandated a joint committee to liaise with some members of the National Assembly from the state so as to meet President Muhammadu Buhari, explaining that the committee is also expected to meet with the authorities of the Cameroon republic with a view to regulating the release of water.
In his remarks at Bilachi, the member said he felt that coming to see them face to face will be more than any other thing that he will send to them, emphasizing that he came so as to commiserate with them and assured them of his effort towards ensuring that relief materials are provided to them.
The Jarman Malabu, pointed out that he has no reason whatsoever to delegate somebody to come and sympathise with them on his behalf, saying he found it absolutely necessary to come and see things for himself, pleading with those who reside very close to the bank of river Benue, to relocate to safer ground to avoid reoccurrence.
While at Tunga Noma, Hon. Shuaibu Babas, informed them that his duty at the House is to grant approval and lobby for dividends of democracy, and that implementation is not part of his responsibility except if there is any allocation for constituency project.
While appreciating them for their patience and understanding, he called on them to be united and live peacefully, and prayed God to bless whatever little that is left for them in their farms so as get what they will fend for themselves and their families.
Speaking earlier, the DG Shuaibu Babas Campaign Organisation, Mr. Barnabas Pata, commiserated with them over the incident, and assured them that their member is equal to the task, as he will stand his ground to fight for their right.
Mr. Pata, disclosed that Fufore Gurin has made a good choice by electing member that has their love at heart, saying that their member was deeply touched when he heard that their houses, farmlands and other valuables were submerged.
He thanked them for their support and corporation since the time of election to date, adding that it was their support that saw the member emerging victorious during the election.
On his part, a stakeholder and ex-Federal Road Safety Commander, Yahaya Kawu, stated that since the creation of Fufore Gurin constituency, they have not elected a credible, trusted and respected member like Hon. Babas, and called for support for the legislator to enable him continue in providing good representation.
Responding, the village heads of Farkumo, Jauro Hamza who was represented by Auwal Saleh. Dulo Bwatiye, Njome Pwakada Elson Nicodemus, Bilachi, Mohammed Kalifa Yahaya and Sarkin Hausawa Tunga Noma, thanked the member and his entourage for the visit.
The royal fathers said they were not surprised by the visit because they knew that their member will one day to visit and sympathise with them, pledging their support and corporation to enable him succeed in his representation.
