BREAKING: 55 YR OLD MAN ACCUSED OF KILLING ADAMU IS DEAD

A 55 year old Hamidu Umar, who allegedly masterminded the gruesome murder of Adama Ahmadu has died. Hamidu, of Damare ward in Yola South Local Government Area, died in the early hours of Thursday at the Specialist Hospital Yola, Adamawa state capital following an ailment described by medical sources as "sepsis". A medical source told NEWS PLATFORM that Hamidu was brought to the hospital at about 2:35 pm on Wednesday and died at about 4:00am on Thursday. The deceased and one other identified as Sholey Manas, were charged before chief magistrate court I for offences of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide. They were arraigned before the court on the 18th February, 2022 where they admitted killing the 28 year old Adamu on the 22nd January, 2022. KIDNAPPER DECRIES INJUSTICE...SAYS HE WAS GIVEN N200, 000 ONLY OUT OF N12MILLION RANSOM

A kidnapper, Sadu Ardo Bunkawu, has decried high level of injustice meted to him by other members of the gang while sharing proceeds realised from kidnapping. Ardo lamented that other members of the criminal group conspired and gave him the sum of N200, 000 only out of the whooping N12 million they collected as ransom. The 28-year- old Ardo, of Filingo village, Gankiri ward in Jada Local Government Area, Adamawa state confessed that the N12 million was paid to them as ransom when they abducted Alhaji Umaru Diffiwa and Alhaji Umaru Babidi of the same community. He regretted that the operation was a bad outing for him because even the N200, 000 he collected, got lost while returning back home, explaining that he had lost the money while rushing to reach home on time. MAN BEATS 75 YR OLD FATHER WITH STICK TO DEATH IN ADAMAWA

A 31-year-old man identified as Nicodemus Ignatius has been arrested by the police in Adamawa state for allegedly beating up his 75-year-old father to death. Nicodemus, who hails from Unguwan Bistel in Song town, Song Local Government Area, was alleged to have murdered his father on the 3rd March, 2022 shortly after he had returned from a joint. NEWS PLATFORM learnt that Nicodemus had returned home at about 8:00 pm on that fateful day and met his late father and mother in the room and decided to lock both of them. It was further learnt that the 75 year Ignatius who was afraid of the possibility of his son setting the room ablaze, jumped through the window, but unknown to him that his son had since armed himself with a stick. It was at this juncture that the suspect pounced on his father and hit him with the stick on the head to the extend of breaking his head which resulted in his untimely death. 2023: INEC REGISTERS 111, 762 VOTERS, DECENTRALISES REG IN ADAMAWA

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has registered a total of 111, 762 voters across the 21 Local Government Areas in Adamawa state. The commission explained that out of 111, 762 voters registered online, 83, 395 have completed all the processes as at 7th March, 2022, adding that about 454 people living disabilities were also registered by electoral body. It disclosed that other milestones recorded by the commission include; 2, 983 reviews, 9, 512 information updates, 14, 434 transfers, 3, 427 permanent voters card collections, 5, 147 card loss, 2, 032, defaced card replacements. The Resident Electoral Commissioner(REC), Adamawa state, Kassim G. Gaidam, made this known while briefing press at the commission on Wednesday. ADHA URGES GOVT TO INVESTIGATE KILLING IN DEMSA LGA

Adamawa State House of Assembly has urged Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, led administration to unravel the circumstances which led to the killing of a 25 year old man in Demsa community. It could be recalled that yet to known gunmen on Saturday night, killed a young man identified as Sheriff Yongo, of Dong community in Demsa LGA, while 2 others escaped by whiskers. The victims were said to be returning back from a convention organised by the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria(LCCN) and held in Numan last week. But the assembly during its sitting presided by its Speaker, Rt. Hon. ADHA APPROVES FINTIRI's REQUEST TO REVIEW RATES ON ANIMALS, GRAINS

Legislators at the Adamawa State House of Assembly on Monday, granted approval for Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, to review rates payable in respect of large and small animals and grains. The approval followed a consideration of a letter addressed to the assembly by Governor Fintiri which was read on the floor of the assembly by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas. Governor Fintiri in the letter pursuant to section 128 of the state revenue administration law number 12 of 2020, sought for approval to  review rates for produce inspection and livestock control fees. While considering the letter, Hon. Alhassan Hammajoda (Ganye), commended the executive for the initiative, and advocated for the establishment of toll gates to enhance revenue generation.
