ADAMAWA POLICE/HUNTERS FOIL KIDNAP ATTEMPT, KILL ONE

Adamawa State Police Command's operatives in collaboration with hunters have foiled an organised kidnap attempt in Gombi Local Government Area. The operatives in a combined effort with the hunters neutralized one suspect and recovered locally made gun, leg chain and charms, among others. The command in a release by its image maker, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said that the success followed a reliable information received about the organized crime.    SP Nguroje, said that the operatives attached to Gombi Division in sustained collaboration with hunters foiled an organized  kidnap attempt of a man known as Babuga Adamu of Gegeli village, Gombi LGA on the 10th November, 2022. According to him, upon receiving the information, the command designed a security ring around the targeted area and luckily engaged the kidnappers in a gun duel and neutralized one while others escaped with bullet wounds. VIGILANTE SHOT DEAD BY SON WHILE TESTING CHARMS IN ADAMAWA

Suugbomsumen Adamu, Suspect A member of vigilante group in Jada Local Government Area, Adamawa state identified as Yusuf has been shot dead by his step son while testing gun charms' efficacy. Already, the operatives of the police command have apprehended the step son known as Suugbomsumen Adamu, accused of killing his step father in Sankipo community in the LGA. The incident occured on Sunday 6th November, 2022 in the community between 5:00pm to 6:00pm. Yusuf, who was said to be drinking a gin known whiskey, sighted the accused on his way back home on that fateful day where he called him and turned his dane gun on himself and asked him to fire it. The deceased who allegedly acted under the influence of alcohol was believed to have fortified himself with the protective charms, but that the charms woefully failed him. DISMISS RIBADU' S SUIT, REINSTATE BINANI AS OUR GUBER CANDIDATE- APC URGES COURT

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Adamawa state has urged the Court of Appeal to dismiss the suit instituted by its governorship aspirant, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu. NEWS PLATFORM can report. However, the leadership of the party has asked the court reinstate Senator Aishatu Dahiru Binani, as its governorship candidate in the 2023 general election. The party in its appeal instituted on Thursday last week, asked the court to set aside the judgement of the Federal High Court delivered on the 14th October, 2022. The Federal High Court presided by A.M Anka, voided the election of Binani, who was ealier declared winner of the governorship primary election. The embattled Gubernatorial Candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Adamawa state, Sen. Aishatu Binani, has engaged 12 erudite lawyers for legal battle against court's decision which voided her election. Sen. Binani, has asked the Court of Appeal sitting in Yola, to declare her as the authentic/lawful candidate of the APC in the forthcoming governorship election.  The Federal High Court presided by A. M. Anka, declared Binani's candidature null and void while delivering judgement in suit filed by the erstwhile Chairman of EFCC, Nuhu Ribadu. Thompson Gutiri, the defendant A drunk man, Thompson Gutiri, has been remanded in prison custody in Adamawa state for allegedly killing his neighbour, Napthali Santana. Magistrate Alheri Ishaku Adiel, of the Chief Magistrate Court I Admin, remanded the defendant after he had pleaded guilty to the alleged offence. Thompson, of Luru, Tambo ward in Girei Local Government Area, speared Santana to death during a fight over the defendant's refusal buy local beer (Burkutu) to the deceased. JUST IN: ADHA ESTABLISHES ANTI-CORRUPTION COMMISSION

Adamawa State House of Assembly on Monday, passed a bill for a law to establish anti-corruption commission. NEWS PLATFORM can report. The Assembly enacted the anti-graft commission in order to complement the effort of other agencies in fighting corruption in the state. According to the legislators, if assented to by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, the law will promote accountability and transparency as well as address financial crimes. The legislation entitled " a bill for a law to provide for the establishment of the Adamawa State Anti Corruption Commission", was floated by Hon. Abubakar Isa(Shelleng constituency). A woman identified as Maryam Yahya, has been dragged before Upper Area Court 4 in Adamawa State for allegedly calling her neighbour a witch. Maryam, of Hayin Gada in Girei Local Government Area, accused her neighbour known as Charity Samuel, of the same address, of being a witch troubling her life. The defendant was dragged before the court for criminal trespass, intentional insult and defamation of character contrary to sections 333, 385 and 377 of penal code 2018. Charity, in a direct criminal complaint marked: UAC4/CR/306/2022/ averred that her neighbour had accused her of being a witch appearing in her dream. She added that the defandant had accused her of transforming from human being to evil bird and pursuing at night. She alleged that the defendant invaded her rented apartment, pulled her clothes and accused her of being a witch tormenting her life, saying that incident took place before many people.
