EASTER: REFLECT ON SACRIFICE, LOVE OF CHRIST- BATHIYA TELLS FAITHFUL

The Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, has reminded Christians on the need to appreciate the sacrifice and love shown by Jesus Christ on the cross. Rt. Hon. Bathiya, also tasked faithful on prayers for peace and unity of the state as they join other faithful around the world in celebrating 2024 Easter. EASTER: ADAMAWA CP ORDERS WATERTIGHT SECURITY

The Commissioner of Police, Adamawa State, CP Dankombo Morris, has ordered watertight security patrol around worship centers as well as other strategic places to ensure a peaceful and crime free Eater celebrations. The CP, has also ordered all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), Operational Commanders and their Supervising Area Commanders to personally lead the men deployed to areas to curtail security threats. A statement by the PPRO, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said that the order is line with the commitment of the Inspector General of Police system of policing. SONG LAWMAKER SPONSORS BILL TO ESTABLISH COMMISSION FOR LOCAL LANGUAGES

The Member representing Song constituency at the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Emmanuel Kefas, has sponsored a bill for the establishment of the Indigenous Languages' Commission. The legislation is crafted to create a commission with the responsibility of preserving indigenous languages that are on the verge of extinction across the 21 Local Government Areas. Adamawa State is known to house several ethnic groups with each having a unique language structure and culture. However, a number of indigenous languages are no longer spoken not to talk of passing it down to new generations. It is against this backdrop that the legislation is floated to that effect in order to promote cultural heritage particularly indigenous languages instead of allowing same to be eroded or forgotten by it speakers. ADAMAWA: 6 IN POLICE NET FOR RECEIVING STOLEN TRICYCLES

The Adamawa State Police Command has recorded another achievement by arresting 6 suspects for allegedly receiving stolen tricycles. The Spokesman of the Police Command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said that the suspects were nabbed on the 20th March, 2024. According to him, an effort by the officers attached to SCID Yola led to the arrest of the 6 suspects. The suspects include Idi Abdullahi, 20, resident of Rumde Baru, Yola North LGA, Mohammad Tukur, 21, Abubakar Idrisa, 23and Umar Hassan, 33, resident of Rimergo, Borno State, Umar Yusha'u, 26, of Mubi South LGA, Usman Ladan, 22, of Rumde Baru, Jimeta Yola North LGA. He said that the principal suspects were immediately charged to court and since remanded at Correctional Center pending investigation. GOV FINTIRI'S EX-CoS DENIES ROLE IN EMPLOYMENT RACKETEERING

Ex-Chief of Staff to Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Professor Maxwell Gidado has denied any involvement in employment racketeering involving some Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) while in office. Professor Maxwell (SAN), served as Chief of Staff during the first tenure of Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri from 2015 to 2019 but was replaced shortly after his principal secured his second term. An online media report recently accused him of defrauding 14 unemployed Internally Displaced Persons to the tune of #1.5 million with the promise to secure jobs for them in the State Civil service. LADY HIRES SUSPECTED "SHILA" BOY TO ATTACK HER FRIEND IN ADAMAWA

A 24 years old lady, Besty Sabastine along side a man identified as Delegion, have been arrested by the Adamawa State Police Command in connection to a plot to attack a young lady known as, Sonia Mathew. News Platform  Besty of Jambutu confessed to having hired a 27 years old man known as Delegion of Jambutu to attack Sonia, collect her handset and other valuable items. Sonia, 27 years old and Besty were living together in the same room as friends for long not until misunderstanding which ensued between them which degenerated into fight. Since then, the girls were nursing grudges against each other to the point that Besty, who was severely wounded during the fight, decided to engage the young man to attack her and collect her handset. The plan to attack Sonia could not be successful as a man, who got wind of it, volunteered and informed her about it leading to the arrest of the 2 suspects. N/EAST HUMANITARIAN HUB, USAID SENSITISE CSO, MEDIA ON FOI

The Northeast Humanitarian Innovation Hub in collaboration with USAID on Thursday, organized a town hall/consultative dialogue for Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) as well as Media Practitioners in Adamawa State. The programme was organised primarily to sensitise CSOs as well as the media on Freedom of Information Act (FOI). Speaking, one of the organisers of the event, Venessa Williams, dwelled on the Freedom of Information Act which was presented to the National Assembly in 1999. She told the participants that it was later signed on the 28th May, 2011 and lamented that only 2 States out of 36 States have adopted the FOI Act . According to her, the Act was intended to make public information records and document more freely accessible to citizens. She said that the Act will hold government accountable and it will also promote transparency and good governance among others.
