ADAMAWA PPRO, 35 OTHERS IN ANAMBRA FOR A CAPACITY BUILDING WORKSHOP



The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) Adamawa State Police Command, DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje along side 35 other PPROs are in Awka, Anambra state capital for a 4-Day Intensive Capacity Building Workshop aimed at enhancing professionalism.

The capacity building workshop has been organised by the Nigeria Police Force(NPF), for Police Public Relation Officers across the 36 States of the Federation, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT),12 Zonal PPROs as well as Staff Officers of Force Relation Departments, force headquarters, Abuja.

The event sponsored and hosted by Anambra state government, and coordinated by Resource Personnel of School of Media and Communication, Pan-Atlantic university, kicked started on Tuesday and expected to end on Friday this week.

According to NPF, the workshop is part of the Inspector General Police(IGP), Mohammed A. Adamu's commitment to the enhancement of the capacity of officers whose primary responsibility is to manage the image and information dissemination process towards repositioning the Nigeria Police and changing the uninformed perceptions and faulty narratives about Nigeria Police.

In his opening remarks at the event, the Inspector General Police(IGP), Mohammed A. Adamu, gave kudos to the PPROs for their efforts in impacting public perception about the force, saying there is still much to be done towards correcting the aged long stereotypes about the force.

IGP Adamu, charged the image makers to rebrand the police and project it positively to the citizens; hence, the need to embrace the concept of community policing aimed at building strong partnership with the citizens in their drive to attaining their mandate.

The IGP who was represented at the event by AIG Baba Tijjani of Zone 9, told the gathering that his commitment is to equip the spokesmen with necessary skills and knowledge to efficiently engage the public and effectively manage the image and perception about the force.

He further urged them to imbibe the concept and practice of strategic information management, and develop critical thinking ability needed to dissect and manage complex public relations challenges in the professional manner.

He challenged them not rest on their oars but maintain optimal professionalism at all times, urging them reinvent the image of force.
IGP Mohammed A. Adamu, advised the participants to take the advantage of the new media and modern technology and ensue timely response to issues.

Earlier, speaking while declaring the workshop open, Governor Willi Obiano, of Anambra state appealed to the PPROs to avail themselves with opportunity for optimum performance.
