ADAMAWA ALGON CHAIR, 1 OTHER VIOLATE ADHA RESOLUTION ON SECURITY

Chairman Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) Adamawa Chapter who is also the Chairman Local Government Transition Committee of Song Local Government Council Hon. Barkindo Hammanjoda, and his counterpart of Shelleng, Hon. Audu Buba Ngete, have violated the resolution of the House of Assembly on security in the affected LGAs.

The Chairmen have violated the resolution of the Honourable Members adopted with a view to proffering a permanent solution on the attacked which claimed lives in Prambe, a community in Song LGA.

Recall that the Assembly, as part of effort to curtail clashes between farmers and herdsmen in some parts of the state, had adopted about 6 point resolutions to proffer a lasting solution on the clashes in some parts of state.

Other resolutions passed on 22th July, 2019, include calling on the Transition Committee Chairmen of Song and Shelleng LGCs respectively to summon security meeting and deliberate on the issue with a view to ending such attacks.

The members directed Alh. Barkindo and Hon. Audu Ngete, to with immediate effect, organise security meeting involving all key players to discuss on how to prevent the reoccurrence of such attacks.

The adoption of these resolutions followed a matter of urgent public importance brought before the resumed plenary session by the member representing Song Constituency, Hon. Simon Isa.

After contributions from the members, the Speaker, Rt. Hon.Aminu Iya Abbas, who presided over the  plenary session, directed the clerk of the house to communicate all the resolutions of the lawmakers to the chairmen, and other relevant authorities.

But when contacted by NEWS PLATFORM about a month after the passage of the resolution, the ALGON Chairman, Alh. Barkindo, said the resolution was not communicated to him, and as such nothing was done about it.

When contacted last week, he stated that they had since conducted the meeting, but could not mention where, when and who were the stakeholders that participated in the meeting.

A reliable source from Song told NEWS PLATFORM that there was nothing like security meeting based on the directives by the Honourable Members conducted by the Chairmen.
