Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has flagged off the distribution of instructional materials in 7 Local Government Areas ravaged by the dreaded Boko Haram few years ago.
The LGAs include; Madagali, Michika, Mubi North, Mubi South, Maiha, Hong and Gombi, in northern part of the state.
The instructional materials including text books, chairs, literary charts were donated by the Adamawa Education Program Investment Project (ADSEPIP) and Multi Sectoral Crisis Recovery Project (MCRP)an initiative of the World Bank in the North East Region.
Speaking while flagging off the distribution of the materials at the office of ADSEPIP in Yola, the Adamawa state capital today, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, applauded the World bank for the initiatives which according to him will go along way in improving the standard of education most especially at areas hit by insurgency.
He reiterated the commitment of his government towards investing more resources in the sector with a view to ensuring positive intervention, monitoring and supervision of education in line with the free education policy of the current administration in the state.
Governor Umaru Fintiri further revealed that he will prevail on ADSEPIP to start capacity building programme for educational managers, teachers and instructors for maximum impact in education sector in the state.
Earlier In her remarks, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education Hajiya Aisha Abubakar Umar told the gathering that ADSEPIP donated 46,440, literary charts among others, while MCRP has, donated 2000 chairs, over50,000 textbooks and other instructional materials for both primary and secondary schools.
Baring their minds, the Project Coordinators of ADSEPIP and MCRP Malam Usman Bakari and Doctor Bala Usman said the world bank projects came on board since 2009 in the wake of attacks by the insurgents.
