ADAMAWA ASSEMBLY COMMITTEES UNDERTAKE TOUR OF LGCS TOMORROW



Ad Hoc Committees constituted by the Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, with a mandate to assess the performance of the 21 Local Government Transition Committees (LGTC) in the state will tomorrow Tuesday kick start their assignments.

The Committees are expected to among other things  carry out an on the spot assessment of the performance of the LGTC Chairmen within 100 days and interact with the councils' Chairmen and Councillors.

Recall that the Speaker of the House had while presiding over the sitting last week, announced the composition of the committees, and gave them 2 weeks within which to complete their assignments.

The constitution of the committees was sequel to matter of public concern raised by the Chairman of the House Standing Committee on LG and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Umar Nashion Gubi(Nasarawo Binyeri).

Hon. Nashion had earlier prayed the hallowed chamber to set up committees to oversight the 21 LGCs with a view to have first hand information on what they have been able to put on the ground for their people within 100 days.

The LGCs have since been given financial autonomy by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, and expected by now would have hit the ground running with developmental projects.

It is against this backdrop that the Legislator (Hon. Nashion) asked his colleagues to visit the LGCs to see how the LGT Committes are faring.

But the Speaker had while presiding over the session, divided the house into 4 different committes to be headed by Hon. Kate Mamuno(Demsa), Hon. Abdullahi Umar Yapak(Verre), Hon.Hammantukur Yettisuri(Jada Mbulo) Majority Leader and Hon. Japhet Kefas(Gombi).

Hon. Mamuno who will be leading other 4 members, are expected visit Gombi, Song, Girei, Yola South and Fufore LGCs, while Hon. Yapak, with other 4 Members will be heading to Toungo, Ganye, Jada, Mayo Belwa and Yola North LGCs.

The Majority Leader's Committee with 4 membership will tour Madagali, Michika, Mubi North, Mubi South, Maiha, and Hong, while Hon. Japhet Kefas, with other 4 Lawmakers will storm Shelleg, Guyuk, Numan, Lamurde and Demsa LGCs.
