ADHA MP SEEKS GOVT INTERVENTION OVER GIREI FLOODING
Moved by the plight of victims of flood disaster in some parts of his constituency, the member representing Girei constituency at the Adamawa state House of Assembly, Hon. Mohammed Mutawalli, has sought for government intervention for communities ravaged by recent flooding in Girei Local Government Area in the state.
Hon. Mutawalli, who is the Minority Leader of the House of Assembly, however sympathised with the affected communities, saying his electorates are in dire need of urgent intervention through provision of relief materials to alleviate their suffering.
Hon. Mutawalli who was reacting on the unusual flooding in Girei, and other LGAs residing along the bank of river Benue, also called on governments at all levels to as matter of urgency provide emergency relief materials to the victims of the flood disaster especially those that are displaced.
According to him, worst hit communities in Gieri Local Government area; include Gereng, Koh, Kangling, Dikajan and Tabongo among others.
The Honourable Member said that the emergency assistance especially building materials will help to rebuild the affected communities, and urged the victims especially those living along river banks to move to safer side in other to prevent loss of lives and property to natural disasters.
Hon. Mohammed Mutawalli, said that he is liaising with relevant stakeholders so as to meet with the State Emergency Management Agency (ADSEMA), National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and Non- Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to come to the aid of the affected communities.
