ADHA MP ADVOCATES FOR APPOINTMENT OF WOMEN INTO POLITICAL OFFICES
Member representing Demsa Constituency at the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Kate Raymond Mamuno, has advocated for the appointment of more women into political offices in the state.
According to her, women form larger population of the state, and that they should be accorded premium attention in the scheme of things in the state.
Hon. Mamuno, stated this during the consideration of a letter forwarded to house by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, requesting the house to approve for the appointment of 23 commissioner nominees at a resumed plenary session today.
The female legislator argued that she does not see the reason why women will not be carried along and trusted with responsibilities, lamenting that the Governor has nominated only 3 women out of the 23 to serve as cabinet members in the state.
She added that as far as she is concerned, the letter forwarded to them by the Governor is biased and not gender sensitive, urging on him to consider the plight of the women and be given opportunity to contribute their quoter for development of the state.
