YOLA CONCERN CITIZENS PETITION LG BOSS, OVER ILLEGAL SALES OF LAND

Yola South Concern Citizens in Yola South Local Government Area, Adamawa State have forwarded a petition to the State House of Assembly over alleged illegal sales of landed property which belongs to the government by the Transition Committee Chairman of the LGC, Hon. Ahmed Mujeli.

The petition which was copied to the Executive Governor of the state, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Public Complain Commission, Yola office, was signed by 24 Concern Citizens.

This petition is coming barely one week after the suspension of the Transition Committee Chairman of Numan LGC, Hon. Nathaniel Tyakul, following a petition filed against him by 10 Councillors over allegation of outright violation of due process.

NEWS PLATFORM learnt that embattled Yola South LGC boss, has been having a running battle with the Concern Citizens as well as LG Councillors, and that already the Councillors too have finished writing their complaint letter against the same Chairman over allegation of highhandedness.

A Councillor who confided in NEWS PLATFORM said that the Councillors have finished working on their petition on the alleged atrocities of the Chairman and expected to forward it to the House of Assembly tomorrow Wednesday.

But in their petition which was read at the resumed plenary session presided by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, drew the attention Governor Fintiri, the Honourable House, and the anti graft agency on the action of the Chairman to disposing the landed property which belongs to the LGA.

The Concern Citizens told the House that the government's landed property is not limited to Jippu- Jam round about, but also the presidential lodge frontage, saying his action contravenes the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.

According to them, the action contradicts the good intention of Governor Fintiri led administration, adding that upon the assumption of office, the Governor had frowned at such action as did by the immediate past administration where it disposed some plots of land.

While condemning the action of the Chairman, they vowed to do everything possible towards protecting what belongs to them and the future generation, urging the Honourable House to called the Chairman to order.

The letter was presented at the floor of the house today by the Chairman House Standing Committee on Public Petition and Member representing Fufore Gurin Constituency, Hon. Babas Shuaibu.

After reading the letter, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, who presided over the sitting, referred it to the House Committee on Public Petition for investigation and given 2 weeks within which to submit its report.

But when contacted for his reaction with regards to the petition, the Transition Committee Chairman, Hon. Ahmed Mujeli, dismissed the allegations as untrue and said that the petition has been fabricated to dent his image.
