ADHA OKAYS CONSTRUCTION OF 2000 HOUSING ESTATES WITH #9.9 BILLION LOAN FOR FINTIRI



Legislators at the Adamawa State House of Assembly have unanimously approved the whooping sum of #9.917 billion loan from Family Homes Funds Limited (FHFL) for the construction of 2000 Housing Units for civil servants across the state.

Equally, the Lawmakers have approved the restructuring of #6billion loan facility obtained by Former Governor Muhammad Umar Jibrilla's administration from the initial period of 24 to 36 months.

The Honourable Members however urged the state government to liaise with the house in the implementation of the loan approved so as to ensure checks and balances in the state.

The approval granted by the hallowed chamber was sequel to the consideration of 2 separate letters forwarded to the house by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri today, and read at the resumed plenary session by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas.

Governor Fintiri, had earlier told the legislators that the desire of his government is to provide an affordable housing accommodation for its Civil Servants as it is one of the cardinal programmes of his administration.

According to him, FHFL, an initiative of the Federal Government has offered to provide a loan facility of #9.917  with a 5 years moratorium and 12 years repayment period to the state government for the construction of 2000 units of 3 and 2 bedroom flats across the state.

He further informed the Legislators that the FHFL on completion of the construction of the housing units, will partner with the state government to provide mortgage to civil servants to buy the houses.

He appealed to the house to allow his government secure the loan from the organisation for the construction of the proposed 2000 units for its civil servants.

On the the issue of restructuring, Governor Fintiri, called on them to restructure the repayment terms from the initial period of 24 to 36 months.

Earlier, in a motion for the consideration for the letter, the Majority Leader of House, Hon. Hammantukur Yettisuri( Jada Mbulo), told his colleagues that in view of the condition for loan collected by Governor Bindow, the state government cannot be able to execute any project apart from the payment of salaries due it burden on the state.

Several Legislators including Hon. Abdullahi Umar Yapak (Verde), Hon. Simon Isa (Song), Hon. Adwawa Donglock(Guyuk), Hon. Abubakar Isa( Shellrng) who spoke on the motion, said that the approval will go along way in helping the state government to improve on the living standard of the citizens.

After contributions from the Lawmakers, the Speaker Hon. Aminu Iya Abbas, who presided over the sitting directed the Clerk of the house to communicate the resolutions of the house to the executive arm for necessary action.
