35 YEARS OLD MAN DEFILES DAUGHTER IN ADAMAWA

    The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended a 35 years old man, Muhammad Auwal, for defiling his own daughter. A statement by the Police Public Relations Offucer, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, said that the suspect was arrested on the 11th September, 2024. He explained that the suspect had sexually assaulted his 14-years old biological daughter and since confessed to the crime, assuring that he will be charged to court for prosecution.

FLOODING: YEDC COMMISERATES WITH BORNO GOVT, VICTIMS

The Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) has extended its deepest sympathy to the government and people of Borno State over flood disaster which wrecked havoc in the state. The devastating flood disater which was caused by the embankment failure and overflow from Alau Dam, ravaged the state left citizens counting their losses. The Electricity Distribution Company in a statement by its Communication Officer, Blessing Tunoh, said" Our thoughts are with all those affected during this difficult time". She lamented that the disaster has led to significant losses, displacement, injuries and reports of missing persons. She however urged the affected people to stay safe, follow emergency guidelines and cooperate with local authorities working to restore normalcy.  Blessing Tunoh, said that the company stands in solidarity with the people of Borno State and expressed its sincere hope for a swift receding of the raging water and a speedy recovery of all affected.

AGAIN, ADAMAWA CJ FREES 26 INMATES, ADMITS 13 TO BAIL

The Chief Judge Adamawa State, Hon. Justice Hafsat Abdulrahaman, on Tuesday, discharged 26 inmates awaiting trial and those convicted for various offences. Hon. Justice Hafsat also granted bail to 13 inmates awaiting trial and reviewed sentences of 9 convicts serving various jail term downward.  This brings to a total number of 38 inmates who were granted bail by the CJ since the commencement of the exercise. So far, the CJ freed a total number of 68 inmates at Yolde Pate (Yola New) and Yola Old Correctional Centres in Yola South LGA.  During the visit, several inmates awaiting trial were summarily tried and convicted after they had pleaded guilty to the offences mostly theft of which they accused. Some of them were sentenced to community service at police stations and health centres. ADAMAWA GETS NEW TRANSPORT, TRAFFIC, MOTOR VEHICLE AGENCY

Lawmakers at the Adamawa State House of Assembly have passed a bill for a law to establish the Road Transport, Traffic, and Motor Vehicle Administration Agency. The passage of the new bill followed its 3rd reading at the resumed plenary session on Monday, presided by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley. The Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Ahmed Jingi Belel, who represents Maiha constituency moved for the 3rd reading of the bill and seconded by Hon. Musa Mahmud Kallamu, of Mayo Belwa constituency respectively. Thereafter, the Speaker of the assembly directed the clerk to the assembly to prepare a clean copy of the bill for Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri's assent.

COURT JAILS 2 "SHILA" BOYS 7 YEARS EACH WITHOUT OPTION OF FINE

Jimeta Area Court I sitting in Yola, Adamawa State has convicted and sentenced 2 "Shila" boys to 7 years and 6 months in prison custody each without option of fine. The court presided by Hon. B. B. Sani, sentenced the defendants, Ismail Musa and Nuhu Emmanuel after trial on the offences of criminal conspiracy and extortion. Hon. Sani, jailed the defendants after they had pleaded guilty to the offences of which they were arraigned before the court by the prosecuting police officer, Sgt Kabiru Abubakar. Ismail and Nuhu snatched the mobile phone belonging to a tricycle operator known as Abubakar from Yola town, valued N150,000 only. The convicts snatched the phone at Doubeli culvert at about 7:00pm and attempted to escape. Ismail was arrested at the scene while Nuhu escaped and was later apprehended following the arrest of the 1st convict.

JUBILATION AS ADAMAWA CJ FREES WOMAN AFTER 10 MONTHS IN PRISON

Adamawa State Jail Delivery Committee has discharged about 70 years old woman after spending 10 months in prison custody over defamation of character. The 70 years woman identified as Saraya Salma from Filingo, Fufore LGA, was set free when the committee of Jail Delivery visited Yolde Pate Correctional Centre. This sparked emotions and wild jubilation from the woman and hundreds of other inmates at Yolde Pate Correctional Centre in Yola,  Adamawa state. The Chairman of the committee and Chief Judge of the state, Hon. Justice Hapsat Abdulrahaman, discharged the old woman when she appeared before the committee. Out of her magnanimity, the CJ presented the sum of N12,000 to the woman as transport fare to her community and cautioned her against committing crime.
